In view of the rising demand for urological services over the years, the Urology Centre was opened on 1 March 2007. It aims at providing comprehensive urological services, which include both general urology and specialised urological services. An upgraded robotic surgical system, namely the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System, was installed to allow surgeons to perform complex minimally invasive surgeries, especially for prostate cancers. Minimally invasive surgery includes endoscopic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the latest robotic surgery. Major surgery includes new bladder reconstruction after bladder cancer operation, surgical resection of post-chemotherapy residual retroperitoneal testicular cancer, joining of the vas and the epididymal tubules through microscopic surgery. A full range of urological investigations are also available at the Hospital, together with comprehensive care for most urological problems.
