First in Hong Kong - iFS150 IntraLase Femtosecond Laser

2009-05-27

IntraLase is recognized as the world's current leading technology and a major advancement in refractive surgery. Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital has recently acquired the very first iFS150 IntraLase Femtosecond Laser machine in Hone Kong. It is 2.5 times faster than the current model, which means a more efficient outcome. A fully computer controlled infra-red femtosecond laser is used to cut the corneal flap with extreme precision. The new machine is capable of creating a very thin flap, thus more cornea is conserved and available for refractive correction. It results in a better flap configuration, thus the flap is stronger with less chance of flap movement. With a flap of a more consistent thickness and a smoother surface on the cornea, the safety and outcome of the surgery is greatly enhanced. We believe that the service of our Ophthalmology Department will be enhanced with iFS150 IntraLase Femtosecond Laser machine and that more patients would benefit.
